Whew. What a busy year it has been for me so far! I have been so busy; I have barely found time to breathe! It has all been exciting and fun though. I am a person who thrives with a lot going on in my life. A fellow author commented recently that I must be crazy to have four books coming out in a three month span. I will admit that sometimes it does feel a bit crazy, but I like it that way.
Things have been busy with SEA too. THE CONFERENCE WAS AWESOME! The first SEA Conference was a success. I loved meeting everyone. If you were at the conference and have not filled out the survey yet, please do. We want to make next year’s conference even better. We are hard at work to find next year’s location. In addition to our annual in-person conference, SEA Homeschoolers will host two online conferences. If you are interested in speaking at either conference, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
October 9 – 15, 2017: SEA is hosting an online conference that spans seven days. This conference will feature pre-recorded talks from experienced homeschoolers and educators. Each talk will focus on how to homeschool specific subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science, History/Social Studies, Electives/Foreign Language, Arts/Music , Parent Support Talks.
School Choice Week, January 21 – 27: Homeschooling Children across the Learning Spectrums: The talks in this conference will focus on homeschooling children with different degrees of learning and attention issues.
Join us for Not Back to School Week, starting Monday Aug 21 on Facebook and Twitter, to find out about some exciting new (or new to us) educational resources, all-time favorites of the SEA Homeschoolers’ team, and upcoming sales in the secular homeschool community.
As part of the celebration we will also launch a new group buy for Home School Life Magazine. The subscription rate for HSL is increasing this fall and SEA Homeschoolers is the exclusive location to get group buy savings on this incredible secular homeschool resource for the rest of 2017. Save on new and renewal subscriptions, plus for the first time ever multi-year and gift subscriptions will be available through the group buy!
The SEA Homeschoolers Newsletter has new features as well. Each month newsletter subscribers can enter to win free secular products. This month you can enter to win ebook copies of RSO Astronomy 2 Student Guide and Teacher’s Guide.
We will also be featuring a homeschooled student of the month. This month’s featured student is Colin Harden. When I launched The Science of Climate Change: A Hands-On Course on Kickstarter some of the levels included the option to obtain the supplies with the course. I only planned on making the supplies available as a way to raise the necessary funds to launch the project. I happened to mention to Colin’s mom that the levels with supplies sold better than I thought they would. Colin must have an entrepreneurial spirit, because he decided he would like to take over and sell the supplies. In addition to selling supplies for The Science of Climate Change he will be putting together supply packages for R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey Astronomy 2. I am in the process of putting together the list for him now. These supplies are the supplies I used when I did the labs and activities. Way to go Colin! If your child would like to be featured in the SEA Newsletter send an email to email@example.com.
