Outschool Learner Spaces: Encouraging Learner Discovery
Friday, April 23, 2021
2:30pm EDT/11:30am PDT
Outschool is excited to introduce a new way to help your kids explore their interests! 🎉 Join this session to get a demo of Outschool’s newest feature, followed up with a live Q&A with Outschool’s Product Manager, Brett van Zuiden.
In their Learner Space, kids can discover new Outschool classes and identify their very own interests in a safe, curated space. Learner Spaces encourages confidence by giving learners a voice to independently discover what they want to explore next (all with parents’ final approval, of course).

A Mom Shares Her Success!
Saturday, April 24, 2021
1:00pm EDT/10:00am PDT
Join Outschool teacher and parent Nicole Pauling in an honest conversation with Mark Finnern Outschool’s Head of Community.
Nicole posted this recently in the Outschool community: “Let me tell you about the call I just got. “WE LOVE TALON. He is funny. He is witty. He is smart. He is a leader. He helps get the other students motivated and he is so knowledgeable. Students in other classes ask what Talon said today.”
Let me tell you about last year.
“Talon was banging his head on the desk during class. He became frustrated and bit himself. Talon was crying in the back of the class. Talon won’t talk to anyone and sits alone. Talon can’t defend himself when other students are mean.”
What is the difference? OUTSCHOOL.”
Nicole will share her son Talon’s educational journey: what types of classes she booked that helped her son transform into a confident learner.
We will also save time for Q&A at the end.
P.S. Use Nicole’s Outschool link here to check out Outschool for yourself. You will get $20 for your first class and Nicole will get $20 for Talon’s continued education too. Everyone wins!
Attendees will have the chance to win an Outschool t-shirt during this live session!
A foster parent, mom, serial entrepreneur, artist, case worker, author, mom, and teacher. I specialize in fun and exciting and sometimes scary history. I love to tell a good story. I love to create a tale in such a way that you are drawn in and you don’t necessarily realize that you are sitting in a classroom. I also love to laugh. I love to be creative and design opportunities for students to connect to other students.
Educationally, I have degrees in Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, and Criminal Justice. I have run a domestic violence shelter, worked on mental health in a hospital, and did drop out prevention. I worked in the “field” for over a decade before going into business for myself.
A lot of my work with children has involved teaching them how to evaluate, plan, and use logic to understand the world, events, and consequences. Critical thinking is a skill that I encourage and like to build into my classes as well as flexible thinking as both are essential life skills.
