A multisensory, developmentally aligned spelling program for Grades 1–3

The Speller’s Toolkit gives young learners the tools to become confident, accurate spellers through a hands-on card system, tactile letter tiles, explicit practice, and a simple 4-day weekly routine.
Designed to meet children where they are, this program includes two complete editions—Emerging Writers and Writers—so families can choose the version that best matches their learner’s handwriting readiness. Both editions follow the same sequence, making it easy to switch editions at any time.

What Makes This Program Different

1. A Spelling Program Built for Real Children

This system eliminates overwhelm by teaching only 6–7 words per week and using a structured, repeatable routine that helps students retain spelling patterns long-term.

2. The Card-Based System

At the heart of the program is the Spelling Word Card Deck—a complete set of 200+ cards covering all 31 weeks. These cards act as:

• weekly spelling lists
• a reference tool during writing
• a cumulative “spelling dictionary” that grows all year
• a self-checking system for dictation and independent practice

Each week, new cards are introduced, practiced, mastered, and added to a growing ring or binder, giving students a powerful visual record of their learning.

3. Weekly Letter Tiles—Multisensory Learning That Works

Each week includes a printable sheet with only the letters needed for that week’s word list.
This dramatically reduces cognitive load and lets students focus deeply on spelling patterns without getting lost in a pile of letters.

4. Two Full Editions Included

Emerging Writers Edition
 For students still developing handwriting stamina or letter formation. Uses letter tiles for all spelling tasks.

Writers Edition
 Adds handwriting practice on Day 3 and written dictation on Day 4, while still using tiles early in the week.

Families can switch editions at any time—many transition mid-year once handwriting becomes more automatic.

Weekly Routine (Simple + Repeatable)

• Day 1: Introduce – Hear, see, and discuss each word.
• Day 2: Build & Match – Construct each word using the week’s letter tiles.
• Day 3: Study & Practice –
  • Emerging edition: oral practice + tile building from memory
  • Writers edition: handwriting practice + optional mini-quiz
• Day 4: Assessment – Dictation with self-checking using the spelling cards.

Each day takes 10–15 minutes, making this a sustainable, year-long rhythm.
