Conceptual Integrated Science Explorations
This self-study course collates all 39 chapters of the Conceptual Integrated Science Explorations textbook into 5 units and a total of 39 lessons (one lesson per chapter). Recommended for grade levels 7 ‘ 9. With a greater number of shorter lessons, this explorations course is a less rigorous version of the CIS Full Version course. There is still ample material for two semesters of study. Along with a library of video tutorials and reading assignments, included are worksheets, interactive simulations, study advice from the authors, automated quizzes and homework with grade book, complete labs using household materials, and unit exams. This course provides a strong and enjoyable introduction to integrated science for the junior high school student. It also serves well as a precursor to our higher level Conceptual Physics or Conceptual Chemistry courses, which provide greater depth on a broader range of topics.

Integrated Science (Explorations)
Our junior high school physical science explorations title is geared for grades 7 ‘ 9 actually covering a bit more breadth than our more sophisticated high school/college physical science titles. The depth of coverage, however, is lighter and the questions at the back of each chapter and the unit exams are not as challenging, though they still push the envelope for this younger age group. Our explorations titles make for a good introduction to the basic concepts while also nurturing an enthusiasm for learning more about science.
What You Need
The complete course includes the online course, the textbook, and the supplies needed for the labs. All the labs are designed to be safely performed using only materials from your household or a local discount store. This is a pretty good 2 year middle school science program. My kid is still just in the first module, but the material is solid, and the study suggestions are explained very well. The only downside is helping a kid navigate all the material. There are multiple lessons per unit, but the PDFs you might need in a lesson are all on the first page of the unit. So, you need to look at the teacher’s guide to see what needs to be done each day; the kid starts with that and maybe watches a video embedded in the website for that lesson or reads some pages of the textbook PDF, which is back on the first page of the unit, and maybe also has to answer questions on a different PDF. I was hoping it would be more streamlined, but it’s workable for middle school kids.
