Novel Theme: Warmest Welcome
Warmest Welcome takes students on a journey through four novels where characters extend radical hospitality, offering kindness and support in ways that transform both themselves and those around them. These stories explore what it means to truly see the needs of others, act with generosity and empathy, and create spaces of comfort and belonging—even in the most unfamiliar and intimidating circumstances.
The four novels (and a movie) share a common thread: they feature characters who open their hearts to others without seeking recognition or reward. Whether welcoming new friends, helping strangers, or offering a hand to those who feel out of place, these characters demonstrate the powerful impact of hospitality. Warmest Welcome encourages students to reflect on the ways they, too, can create a more inclusive and compassionate world, one act of kindness at a time.
Hearth & Story 4th Grade Writing
Hearth & Story 4th Grade Writing helps students grow from simple sentence builders into thoughtful, organized writers. With a warm, supportive tone and step-by-step instruction, this course offers meaningful practice in paragraph writing, personal expression, early research, and story development.
Poems & Paintings
This unique homeschool course brings together 24 carefully chosen classic poems and pairs each one with a famous work of art. Designed especially for fourth grade students, the course invites children (and their parents) to slow down, observe closely, and explore how poetry and painting can speak to each other—and to us.
Each lesson features one timeless poem and one beautiful painting, with a gentle guided reflection to help students notice details, connect ideas, and share their own thoughts. As students work through the course, they’ll build not only a deeper appreciation for language and art, but also the ability to think critically, ask questions, and see beauty in new ways.
Whether your student is already a poetry lover or just beginning to explore the world of verse, this course offers an inspiring introduction to the power of visual and literary storytelling.
Tales from the Langs’ Fairy Books
Hearth & Story’s 4th grade short story collection, Tales from the Langs’ Fairy Books, brings together a selection of timeless folktales gathered by Andrew and Leonora Blanche Lang. These engaging units include the full text of each story, accompanied by comprehension checks, thought questions, discussion prompts, and even a recipe. Young readers will explore the adventure and kindness woven into these classic tales, making connections and uncovering deeper meanings along the way. Designed to foster a love of literature, this unit introduces students to some traditional fairy tales they likely have not heard before. Explore these timeless tales and discover why they continue to captivate readers of all ages.
4th Grade Brain Foods Made Ya Think!
Curious minds deserve something substantial to chew on, something that gets them asking, “Wait… why is that?” That’s where 4th Grade Brain Food comes in. This yearlong critical thinking course is built around the theme “Made Ya Think,” and it’s packed with big questions, bold ideas, and just enough silliness to keep things fun.
Designed for thoughtful, talkative, creative kids (and the grown-ups who love learning with them), 4th Grade Brain Food blends philosophy, informational texts, speech & listening skills, and social-emotional growth into a series of thoughtful weekly lessons.
4th Grade Grammar for Writers
Hearth & Story 4th Grade Grammar for Writers is designed to make learning about language an enjoyable and practical experience. Students will learn about parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization in a fun and friendly way.
4th Grade Spelling
Hearth & Story Fourth Grade Spelling isn’t just a list of words to memorize. It’s a gentle, thoughtfully paced spelling program for students who are gaining confidence and ready for a deeper understanding of how words work.
This course introduces students to more complex spelling patterns, with weekly practice designed to help them internalize spelling rules and word roots, not just recite them. It’s a solid next step for students who have outgrown basic lists and are ready to stretch a little further.
