Original price was: $150.00.Current price is: $140.00.

From the heartwarming stories in our thematic series “Warmest Welcome” to our scaffolded writing, critical thinking, and language studies, each fully secular course component is crafted to inspire curiosity, build critical skills, and develop a lifelong love of learning. You and your student will work together to explore literature, writing, poetry, critical thinking, grammar, and spelling.

Rock by Rock is a digital library of real-world, project-based learning experiences for kids in grades K–8. Each project helps your child explore a real problem—like stopping invasive species, addressing issues of hunger, or debating the ethics of AI. Along the way, they’ll grow as thinkers, readers, scientists, and citizens through both online and hands-on learning.

We created Rock by Rock because we kept hearing the same thing over and over from educators:
“I want my kids to love learning. I want to raise problem-solvers. But I don’t have the time to plan it all.”

Today’s learners need more than worksheets and textbooks through learning that both prepares them for the future and helps them see that they have the power to shape the world around them. That’s where Rock by Rock comes in.

Families use Rock by Rock 3-5 times a week during project time that allows kids to be thinkers and problem solvers practicing skills and learning new content through real-world learning.

Rock by Rock offers 26 unique projects for grades K-5 and will be adding projects for grades 6-8 over the next year.

Rock by Rock is an annual membership that includes:

  • Access to our full library of projects
  • Monthly live virtual field trips
  • All the digital materials you need to implement real-world projects
  • On demand support to help you get started.

Rock by Rock is for families who:

  • Want their children to engage deeply with big ideas
  • Love hands-on learning but don’t want to prep it all themselves
  • Value real-world application over rote memorization
  • Are looking for a secular, flexible program for grades K–8
  • Want to help their kids grow into capable, thoughtful, and compassionate people

Here are a few of our most favorite projects:

Example Project 1: Save the Elephants Example Project 2: Ugly Food Hungry People Example Project 3: Save the Whales
Save the Elephants (Grades 3–5) Ugly Food & Hungry People (Grades K–2) Save the Whales (Grades K–2)
Mission: Help protect elephants and their habitats. Mission: Reduce food waste to help end hunger. Mission: Protect whales from ocean pollution.
Kids investigate the lives of elephants—how they live, communicate, and why they’re endangered. They explore the impact of poaching and habitat loss, then take action by writing persuasive letters to Congress calling for stronger conservation efforts. Kids learn how “ugly” fruits and vegetables often go uneaten, even though they’re still good food. They explore the connection between food waste and hunger, then design and sell food clips to raise money for hunger-fighting organizations. Children dive into the underwater world of whales—learning how they live in pods, care for one another, and why plastic pollution threatens them. They create reusable bags or ocean-themed recycled art to raise awareness and promote ocean conservation.
