Really, I wish more parents would use this course!  ~ Andrew Hessel

Microbiology is awesome. Blair Lee covers all the topics, the illustrations are terrific, and the activities and worksheets are fun and engaging. Blair really knows the material and presents it well. I think it’s a terrific resource and really see the effort and time put into it! Any kid working through this book is going to have a solid basic understanding of microbiology. Sample Videos from Microbiology

These 8 videos were chosen to give you an idea of the scope and variability of the 48 videos in the course. A team of us chose them, and not all of the favorites made it into this sample. In the e-book version of this book, the videos are integrated directly into the course. In that way, they can be viewed as an extension of the written material in order to highlight and emphasize what is being studied.

Microbiology is a 12-chapter science course written for middle-grade learners, 4th – 7th grade. This is important and relevant science everyone should learn. Microbiology takes an integrated approach to science, weaving important and relevant topics in biology, immunology, genetics, ecology, health, and chemistry throughout for an immersive learning experience focused on microbial biology. The course meets important Next Generation Science Standards and incorporates many of the Common Core Standards for math and language arts.

Microbiology uses a multimodal approach for delivering content. There are curated videos, color photographs, and illustrations integrated into every chapter. Hands-on modeling and questions are also incorporated within each chapter to support reinforcement of essential concepts. In addition, there are 48 animated videos that were developed for this course, designed to highlight important science topics. Each chapter includes labs and activities that were written to support and scaffold around the concepts in the course.

Microbiology incorporates writing, math, and history into the text. Using short-answer questions and scaffolded writing assignments, this course helps learners develop writing skills, and to read and think analytically. The goal is to give students an understanding of the content and structure that should be included in science writing. Art and design are also incorporated into Microbiology as students are encouraged to get creative while staying true to the principles of science.

Microbiology is an ebook that comes with an Appendix in PDF form.

Can I give this course 6 stars? 🤩 The other day someone asked my rising 6th grader what subject was her favorite and she said microbiology. It’s all because of this series. So much hard work and thought has gone into this course. The descriptions are clear, there are lots of pictures and images and the videos are phenomenal. The science projects mainly use objects found around the house or at the grocery, and her step by step instructions make it so much easier than hunting for projects on the internet. Ms. Blair breaks down complex subjects like cellular structures, viruses and bacteria in a way that’s accessible to kids—and families. The program is easy to navigate—we had some trouble on the technical side and SEA publishing got back to us quickly and went above and beyond to solve the problem. Science curriculums are hard to put together—we are so glad to have this ready-to-use program. I highly recommend it to anyone with kids in the corresponding age range!!

I loved that my daughter (12yo) was able to do this course completely independently and still grasp the material well! Everything from the lessons to the experiments was accessable and clearly explained It was exactly what we needed for science this year.

This was such a great purchase! I feel like I’m juggling a lot of things right now and we were still able to do this microbiology course without feeling overwhelmed. It is well organized and very engaging. It kept my middle schooler (and me!) interested and learning. This hasn’t been a “mom do I have too?” course, instead it’s been a “mom when are we doing more?!” course. That can be hard to come by with teens. We are looking forward to more science from Blair Lee.

    In one word – Challenging!

This course has been the most interesting yet, challenging course I’ve ever navigated with my son. It is listed as 4th – 7th grade and so we sought to tackle this in 4th with my 10 year old. I think 6th or 7th grade would have been a better time to complete this course.
    This is the negative.

It is a well layed out course, with tons of informational videos and hands-on activities that (mostly) reinforces the topic.
My son has completely enjoyed the course, despite some “difficult to grasp” concepts, and looks forward to our science lesson for the week. Both he, and I, have learned quite alot, had a few “ah-ha” moments and have gone down some rabbit holes as a result of topics covered in the course.
    Some many positives!

I will recommend this course to anyone, but do caution that you wait until 6th or 7th grade.
