We Believe from SEA Homeschoolers

WE BELIEVE in the power of education to change the world.

WE BELIEVE learning is how we get to be who we want to be in this one wild and precious life.

WE BELIEVE all education models should meet the learner where they are and handcraft a journey through learning that centers on the unique intellect, strengths, challenges, and needs of the individual. 

WE BELIEVE an evidence-based education is integral to the traits of egalitarianism and compassion, and that those two traits are essential for a just society where people live together in harmony.

WE BELIEVE every homeschooling parent deserves to have a community where they feel they belong, where they feel comfortable asking the questions they need answered, and where they feel supported and celebrated.

WE BELIEVE the acquisition of knowledge is one of the most important gifts we can give children.

WE BELIEVE every child has the right to feel safe.

WE BELIEVE A child’s mental health should be incorporated into their education.

WE BELIEVE there is no timeline for the acquisition of knowledge.

WE BELIEVE early intervention and appropriate accommodations are essential when educating people with learning challenges.

WE BELIEVE in developmentally appropriate academics and learning skills as part of early childhood education.

WE BELIEVE “academics” is not a four-letter word.

WE BELIEVE there is not, and should not be, a one-size-fits-all approach to education.

WE BELIEVE in the power of a liberal arts education to ensure that children have the breadth of knowledge they need to be whoever they want to be.

WE BELIEVE it is the responsibility of home educators to ensure that their children receive an evidence-based education.

WE BELIEVE neutral science isn’t neutral. It is a pernicious form of proselytizing.

WE BELIEVE history education should include and uplift the voices of those who have long been oppressed, othered, and silenced.

WE BELIEVE that in order to see true change a paradigm shift is required in the way we think about education and learning.

WE BELIEVE every child deserves to be seen for who they are and to be given an education tailored to that person.

WE BELIEVE the best educational materials are those that use the facts, theories, and models that are presented by the majority of practicing experts in the field.

WE BELIEVE the trait of lifelong learning is best developed when the acquisition of knowledge is treated as a joyous and worthwhile endeavor.

WE BELIEVE happiness is an important part of success that is often overlooked when we try to measure our own success.
