Engaging with Current Events in History Lessons

Understanding history is more important than ever. Students are looking at the news and want to know, “How did we get here?” Traditional history classes shy away from incorporating current events but they’re missing out on the greatest “hook” to get kids engaged. In this presentation, we will discuss rethinking our approach to media literacy, developing student skills to evaluate biased and misleading information, and normalize current events in our history lessons.
