The Science of Reading Meets the Science of Projects: Growing Literacy Skills through Real-World Project-Based Learning
We have a national focus on the science of reading, but when you pair the science of reading with project-based learning you create catalytic conditions that can accelerate student growth. In this session we’ll explore five pillars of the science of reading (foundational skills, vocabulary, world knowledge, comprehension and argumentation) and share concrete strategies to build those skills through real-world projects. When kids are empowered, agents of change and reading and writing have true purpose, growth follows.
