Sheri Kegley

Sheri Kegley is the founder and curriculum developer of Winding Road Reading, where research and empathy shape structured literacy resources designed to support struggling readers. With a background as an Academic Intervention Specialist and Arizona Dyslexia Designee, Sheri has worked closely with school leaders and teachers to implement research-based reading instruction, assess student progress, and design intervention programs that meet the needs of diverse learners.

With years of experience providing professional development on and teaching with the Science of Reading, structured literacy, and dyslexia intervention, Sheri understands the challenges educators and parents face when helping students develop foundational reading skills. Their work focuses on making instruction explicit, engaging, and accessible, while ensuring that students—especially older struggling readers—receive the support they need in a way that respects their age and learning journey.

As both an educator and curriculum developer, Sheri deeply values child-led and experiential learning and believes that a strong foundation in reading only enhances these opportunities. When children are taught to read through structured literacy, they gain the confidence and skills to fully engage in the world around them—unlocking richer, more meaningful experiences in their interest-based, self-directed learning. Sheri is passionate about making foundational reading instruction both effective and empowering, ensuring that children have the tools they need to explore their passions with greater independence.
